At 11:33 p.m. deputies with the Patterson Police services responded to a report of shots fired northeast of Patterson near Felipe Garza Park, according to a release by the Stanislaus County’s Sheriff’s Department.
A second 911 call stated that the victim had been shot in the 100 block of Washburn Street.
According to the report, deputies found a 25-year-old Hispanic male seated in the car with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. The Sheriff’s Homicide Team along with Crime Scene Investigators has been called in to assist Patterson Police Services.
Detectives have yet to pinpoint the suspect or suspects, but believe the attack to be a gang related homicide. The report currently states that the victim’s family members and others at the scene were “uncooperative” during the investigation.
A witness said Ramirez was shot at the park, and then drove his vehicle to Washburn, where he fell from the car. An anonymous tip suggested that Ramirez was seen earlier that day carrying a gun in his pocket.
Ramirez’s brother, Adrian, created a funeral fund-raising site for the costs. He has yet to be reached for further inquiry.
Ramirez leaves behind a 5-year-old son according to the funeral fund-raising site.
