A graveside service was conducted Wednesday, Feb. 6, for Alvin Joseph Mattos of Crows Landing, who died Friday, Jan. 25, at Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Mr. Mattos, 91, was a native and lifetime resident of Newman. He was a farmer for 75 years and a World War II Air Force veteran. He enjoyed playing bingo.
Mr. Mattos is survived by his daughter, Sandra Mattos of Modesto; stepsons, Gary Campbell and Larry Campbell, both of Arizona; brother, George Mattos of Patterson; nine stepgrandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mae Mattos and two brothers and two sisters.
The graveside service was conducted Wednesday, Feb. 6, at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Gustine.
