During the Stanislaus Library Foundation’s second Author’s Garden Gala on Aug. 25, titled “An Evening in Paris,” mystery writer Cara Black will share her love of Paris and murder mysteries, accompanied by a French-inspired dinner prepared by Greens Market of Modesto.

The evening event, at the home Dr. Stephen and Ann Endsley, includes a social hour and a dessert auction. Guest author Black, of San Francisco, has made Paris the backdrop of the 12 books in her Aimée Leduc series. The main character is a savvy American-Parisian private investigator who inherited her father’s investigation agency.

The Stanislaus Library Foundation, organized in 1994, provided $35,700 this year for children’s and teenagers’ library summer reading programs in Stanislaus County. Additionally, the foundation has contributed $20,000 toward the e-books program that is expected to be available through county libraries in the next few months.

Author’s Garden Gala tickets are $150 per person. Reservations are requested by Aug. 14. The proceeds of the evening will benefit all 13 branches of the Stanislaus County Library.

For tickets, call 204-9360 or send a check and the names of those attending to the Stanislaus Library Foundation, P.O. Box 4862, Modesto, CA 95352-4862.
