Soroptimist International of Patterson will team up with the Del Puerto Health District and the city for a Saturday of Service from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 6. Soroptimists from throughout the world will serve their communities in some way that day.

Patterson’s first Family Health and Community Services Fair will feature information and service booths, education, break out sessions and prizes throughout the morning at Hammon Senior Center, 1033 W. Las Palmas Ave.

Mitchell Parker will give a Club Fitness demo for adults, and Joel Covolo will demonstrate Young At Heart exercises. Yoga and pilates demonstrations are also planned. People can have their Body Mass Index and blood pressure screened, and H1N1 flu vaccines will be available.

Many area nonprofits and groups will have booths at the fair, including Catholic Charities, Alzheimer’s Aid Society, Community Hospice, Howard Training Center and American Heart Association.

CPR Saturday is planned  

The American Red Cross Stanislaus County Chapter will have its 27th annual CPR Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 13.

People can register to participate at five places in the county, including the Patterson library, 46 N. Salado Ave.,

Cost is $8 for each person who preregisters or $10 per person at the door, on a space-available basis. Early registration is encouraged.

Fiddler, cellist showcase musical talents Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas will showcase their new release, “In the Moment,” in a special Thursday evening concert April 8 at the Westside Theatre, 1221 Main St., in Newman.

The musical partnership between Alasdair Fraser, Scotland’s fiddle ambassador, and Hass, a California cellist, began when Haas was 11. She attended Fraser’s Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddling School in California, and four years later, Fraser and Haas played their first gig together. They have since performed in Spain, France and Scotland and across the U.S. and Canada.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $19 for general admission and $22 for reserved seating.
