City Council Candidate Tony Camacho filed campaign disclosure forms showing he has raised more than $5,000 for his campaign and how much he has spent.

Camacho was one of the candidates for council not to have filed the California form 460 from the California Fair Political Practices Commission. The others were mayoral candidate Troy McComak and Councilwoman Annette Smith.

Camacho filed the forms after the Irrigator deadline Wednesday, Oct. 17, 12 days after the filing deadline for the campaign forms. Camacho noted he’d filed with the FPPC on Oct. 11.

The forms show he has raised $5,050 from four sources through Sept. 30.

The donors included California Teamsters Public Affairs Council for $1,500, Teamsters’ Union Local 439 for $2,000, DRIVE committee of Washington D.C. for $1,500, a political action committee and a $50 donation from Luis Ispuro of Patterson.

Smith, however, produced a form 470, filed with the city of Patterson and bearing a “received” stamp dated Sept. 27. The form 470 is filed instead of a 460 for candidates who have raised or spent less than $1,000 on their campaigns.

She said Tuesday, Oct. 23 that she expected to file a form 460 by today’s deadline for disclosure before the Nov. 6 election.

City Clerk Maricela Vela, who previously stated she did not have a form 470 on hand for Smith, did not return calls this week seeking comment.

McComak said last week he did not expect to spend any money on his campaign.

Camacho said in a statement on his website that he took responsibility for not filing required paperwork on time.

“Even though we filed our forms before the Irrigator article, it is absolutely our responsibility to get our forms in on time,” he said in the statement.

This week, Camacho said he was new to the political scene and that there would be occasional errors.

“It was an honest mistake,” he said. “Being new to this, we’re trying to do everything by the book. As soon as we were made aware, we corrected it.”

She woke up tonight on her Campaign Facebook Page when questioned about her past. Unfortunately she deleted the back and forth she had with me. Thank Goodness For Apple Screen Save and facebook sending you notifications when someone replys to a comment or post.
