Creekside Middle School placed third overall in the seventh-grade competition in the Stanislaus County Academic Pentathlon on Saturday, March 22. The local school followed first-place Ustach Middle School and second-place Turlock Junior High School.

Stanislaus County middle school and junior high schools sent their best seventh-and eighth-grade students who competed in a series of tests throughout the day.

Young scholars were challenged by a series of speeches, tests, essays and a Super Quiz. The Super Quiz event was open to the public at Prescott Junior High School.

The young scholars who participate in the event are tested in five subject areas — essay, speech, math, science and language and literature. In this way, students earned both team and individual awards.
