Dan was a great man. He and I sold cell phones together as well as ads in Valley Views Magazine. What he did not have in finesse he made up for in sheer determination and he was fiercely loyal. He was a good friend and I am sad that I missed the memorial service but I did get a chance to spend a day with him right before he passed away. It was a glorious day. We went out to eat at one of his relative's local restaurants and he talked about how he wanted to be remembered. He was proud of his athletic accomplishments in high school as well as his association with Valley Views Magazine (of which I was the publisher). He had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ so I know I will see him again soon. His days of driving himself back and forth to and from LA are gone now. He was one of those unheralded hometown heroes and I, for one, will miss him greatly.
