DETAILS: The Employment Development Department and Modesto Junior College Tech Ed and Workforce Development will host a Veteran Job Fair open to all job seekers. Dress for success and bring your resume to find out about job opportunities and meet and interview with employers on the spot.

DETAILS: Students at Sacred Heart School are hosting an e-waste drive and accepting computers, cell phones, televisions and DVD and VHS players.

Wednesday, May 14 Farmers’ market coupon distribution WHEN: 4 to 6 p.m.

WHERE: Patterson Farmers’ Market, 1040 W. Las Palmas Ave.

DETAILS: The Area Agency on Aging has received Seniors Farmers’ Market coupon booklets for distribution to men and women age 60 and older who live in Stanislaus County and have a limited income of $1,799 a month or less for an individual or $2,425 a month for a couple. Seniors are entitled to the coupons, worth $20, once a year. Coupons can be used like cash at Certified Farmers’ Markets to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, honey or edible herbs. This is a farmer subsidy, so seniors should redeem coupons by mid-November. Coupons are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

May is Older Americans Month and the focus of the month is on health and injury prevention with the theme, “Safe Today, Healthy Tomorrow.”
