Patterson True Value ‘Holidays’ Farmers Market

WHERE: In front of Patterson True Value Hardware, 1040 W. Las Palmas Ave.

DETAILS: Patterson Farmers’ Market will be extending their hours to Saturdays for the upcoming holiday season. Director Carol Bogdanich said the newest installment would offer a festive ambiance for adults and youth alike.

Wednesday, Oct. 9 to Oct. 30

Youth Theatre Workshop

WHEN: 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

WHERE: Patterson Public Library, 46 N. Salado Ave.

DETAILS: The Patterson Repertory Theatre is hosting its October sessions every Wednesday for its Youth Workshops for youth ages 6-to 12-years-old.

COST: $30 for five sessions, $25 per sibling

Senior Zumba classes

WHEN: Tuesdays, 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

WHERE: Hammon Senior Center, 1033 W. Las Palmas Ave.

DETAILS: The Recreation Department is now offering free Zumba classes for senior adults throughout the month of October. Zumba is a great way to exercise and have fun. The classes are led by Instructor Heidi Vento.

Biggest Loser teams to weigh out

WHEN: Weigh out at 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Patterson Joint Unified School District office, 510 Keystone Blvd., Patterson DETAILS; The West Side Health Care Advisory Task Force’s Healthy Lifestyle Contest ends its lifestyle education campaign Healthier Choices for Our West Side on Thursday, Oct. 17. The task force’s Biggest Loser weight loss teams consist of 10 members for each team who will officially weigh out at 11:30 a.m. The team that has lost the most weight collectively since its August start will be declared winner of the contest and have bragging rights for the year.

Friends of the Library book sale

WHEN: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m, on Oct. 17 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 21

WHERE: Patterson Branch Library, 46 N Salado Ave.

DETAILS: The Friends of the Patterson Library will host a used book sale at the library, 46 N. Salado Ave., Oct. 17 and 21. Paperbacks will be sold for 50 cents each, while hardback books, CDs, tapes and videos will sell for $1 each. Children’s books range in price from 25 cents to 50 cents each.

On “The Big Sale Day” on Monday, Oct 21, book lovers can buy books for $5 a bag. The sale will not be held on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19.

Proceeds from the book sales in October and April are used for children’s programs, magazine subscriptions and other supplies for the library.

New members are always welcome to come join the Friends of the Library group.

Social night for veterans

DETAILS: The Elijah B. Hayes American Legion Post No. 168 will be hosting its final veterans’ social night for autumn. All veterans are welcome, as well as their companions. Legion membership is not required.
