A memorial service was conducted Monday, July 9, for David Paul Williams of Patterson, who lost his courageous battle with cancer on July 3.

Mr. Williams, 51, was born Feb. 10, 1961, in Shawnee, Okla., to Shirley Williams of Patterson. He graduated from Patterson High School in 1979. Mr. Williams worked for 27 years at West Stanislaus Irrigation District in Westley. He was a football official with NCOA South Football Division, officiating local high school and youth football programs from 2004 to 2011. Many Patterson Redskin Youth Football and Patterson High School players knew him as “Coach Blood”. He worked stage security for the Stanislaus County Fair for over 15 years. His passion was family, football, his job and backpacking.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Denise Williams of Modesto; daughter, Alicia Williams of Modesto; stepchildren, Alec Altamirano of Reno, Nevada and Alyse Altamirano of Modesto; sisters, Saberina Reza and Patsy Ochoa, both of Patterson and his dear nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Patterson and sister, Valerie Williams.

The memorial service was conducted Monday, July 9, at the Covenant Church, 435 W. Las Palmas Ave., Patterson.

Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., Patterson, is handling the arrangements.
