The Westside Health Care Advisory Task Force, formed in 2007, will host an eight-week initiative called West Side Walks from 7 to 9 p.m. every Wednesday, June 9 through July 28, at the high school tracks in Patterson, Newman and Gustine.
The program is designed to encourage West Side residents to become active through walking in a fun, safe, social environment that promotes healthy benefits associated with walking.
Participants are encouraged to keep track of the distance they walk over the weeks on their personal “fun-o-meter,” which will be available at City Hall, 1 Plaza, and at the Patterson Library, 46 N. Salado Ave.

YES Company’s ‘The Music Man’
Youth Entertainment Stage Company will present a summer production of “The Music Man” at the Gallo Center for the Arts in July.
Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man” follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys’ band he vows to organize — this, despite the fact he doesn’t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by the time the curtain falls.
Tickets range from $8 to $40 and are on sale at the Gallo Center for the Arts box office, 1030 11 th St., Modesto, or at www.galloarts.org. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. July 23 and 24 and 28 through 31; 3 p.m. July 25 and Aug. 1; and 1:30 p.m. July 31. A sign language interpreter will be at the July 25 matinee.
YES Company is in its 19th season, and its “Music Man” cast and crew consists of 120, its largest production to date.
