Bruce Martin, who died in an Aug. 25 fire at a Brookdale house crowded with junk and flea market purchases, wasn’t the hoarder.
He was a tenant in the house owned by Doug Speegle, who had collected the mountain of items, Boulder Creek Fire Chief Kevin McClish said.
Martin’s body was found in the kitchen the day after the blaze. The fire started in or near the kitchen, fire investigators determined. Some neighbors had reported seeing Martin seemingly inebriated earlier in the day.
Speegle has told authorities he will get rid of the hoarded stuff and demolish the burned-out house.
