Free Telescope Nights are on tap

The Modesto Junior College Astronomy Club welcomes viewers all ages to gaze at the stars during Friday evenings’ Telescope Nights, scheduled each month from October 2013 to April 2014 —January excluded.

The Telescope Nights will be at the Science Community Center, 2201 Blue Gum Ave., Modesto, at the following dates and times: Oct. 4 from 8 to 10 p.m.; Nov.1 from 7 to 9 p.m.; Dec. 6 from 7 to 9 p.m.; Feb. 7 from 7-9 p.m.; March 7 from 7-9 p.m. and April 4 from 8 to 10 p.m.

Telescope Nights provide attendees with opportunities to learn about space by giving them access to astronomical resources in the Science Community Center, including multiple 12-inch telescopes, a 28-inch telescope/camera, a scale-model of the solar system, and a planetarium.

Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase with proceeds benefiting the student-based Astronomy Club.
