Help Silvia Soberanis

I'm teary eyed as I write this asking for your help.

Every time I think of my best friend Silvia Soberanis (local resident and former West Side Pantry president) laid up in a rehabilitation hospital in San Jose with no money, home or idea of what will happen when she gets released, I feel sad and frustrated and wish I could be there full-time for her.

She's been in the hospital since Thanksgiving night. Unfortunately, she's in San Jose and I'm in Ventura and I need to stay here to keep my job. If earning a living wasn't an issue, I'd move there in a flash and help her full-time. So I'm reaching out to everyone I know to ask for help for Silvia. Please go to to visit the page I set up for her.

There's also a nice article about her published by the Patterson Irrigator newspaper at

She's been my partner in crime for the past 22 years, 19 of which have been a long distance friendship. I'm her daughter’s Godmother. Her son, Francisco, is my buddy for life. Silvia and I have been in multi-levels together, we've partied together, and we’ve even gone on vacations and conferences together.

The point of this email is to send her story out to as many people as possible.

Silvia needs our help. All of us. No amount is too small.

Or you might know someone selling an electric wheel chair or related supplies for a good price.

I'm sure most of us make donations, some to organizations we care about. Here's an actual person you now know about that you can help directly.

I plan to have a neighborhood yard sale to raise more funds and to get the word out.

We can all help. She needs cheering up and is a fun, wonderful, kind woman to talk to. She's a real people person and loves to laugh.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,

Debb Deacy
