The American Legion Elijah B. Hayes Post 168 will be holding two remembrance ceremonies in September, both held in Veterans Park on the Plaza Circle.

• Patriot Day: 8:30 a.m. on Sept.11, a Wednesday. Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance commemorates the 3,000 people who died in the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in New York City, Washington DC and Pennsylvania. Flags should be flown at half-staff that day.

• POW/MIA Remembrance Day: 11 a.m. on Sept 20, a Friday. This is a recognition day held the third Friday of each September in honor of Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action.
