In addition to getting together for meetings and play dates, MOMS Club members participate in community outreach. This summer, they purchased more than $1,000 worth of school supplies, including backpacks, for Patterson elementary school children using money they raised throughout the year.
For the upcoming Christmas holiday, MOMS members plan to adopt a local family or collect toys for the Toys for Tots drive that delivers gifts to children in need.
Two of the group’s annual projects are a Children’s Fair and an Emergency Services Appreciation Day. MOMS Club also works with Patterson Recognizing Individuals Determined to Excel, which awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Patterson.
MOMS Club’s monthly meetings begin at 9:30 a.m. the second Friday of each month at New Hope Church of the Nazarene, 1720 E. Las Palmas Ave. The members, all stay-at-home mothers, meet to discuss upcoming events and fundraisers and plan the next month’s activities.
