Myrtle ‘Turtle Momma’ Rockwood

A memorial service will be conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 20, for Myrtle Rockwood of Patterson, who died Nov.9, 2012, at Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson after a brief illness.

Mrs. Rockwood, 83, was born in Hopeville to parents Eunice and Kenneth Brooks, but lived most of her life in Patterson, graduating from Patterson High School in 1947. She worked picking apricots as a teenager, as a phone teller at Evans Telephone Company, a waitress at Ingram Creek Restaurant and worked at Thee Bakery. She was a volunteer at Salvation Army distributing food.

Mrs. Rockwood is survived by her sister, Millie Wrinkles of Springfield, Mo.; daughter, Lynda Seppala of Patterson; granddaughters, Tammy Rodney, and husband Byron, of Patterson and Kimberly Hale of Reno; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bill Brooks and sister, Vicki Brooks.

A Memorial Service will be observed at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson. Burial will be private. .

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Rockwood’s name may be made to Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA. 95356.
