Patterson holds tough against Livingston for win

Patterson High’s varsity volleyball team took an early advantage in the Western Athletic Conference with a 3-1 win over the Livingston High Wolves on Monday, Sept. 23, on the road.

The Tigers (6-4 overall, 1-0 WAC) regrouped after losing the first set to win the match with set scores of 20-25, 25-11, 28-26, 31-29.

Senior Mariele Schut (seven digs) scored eight aces from the service line, senior Kiara Job had a team-high eight kills and junior Esther Ekwueme added seven kills for Patterson. Teammate Dayna Hansen, a senior, contributed five kills, 11 digs, five blocks and five assists.

Sophomore Julia Sill tallied 23 assists and 10 digs, junior Maria Cortez notched 13 digs and senior Samantha Camacho had 11 digs for the Tigers.

Patterson will continue its season at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, when it travels to Los Banos High.

The JV Tigers claimed a 3-0 decision against host Livingston on Monday, Sept. 23, in the WAC opener for both teams. Patterson beat Livingston with set scores of 26-24, 18-25, 15-11.


The freshman Tigers pulled out a 2-0 win over Livingston in the league opener for both teams. Patterson won with set scores of 25-11, 28-26.
