Patterson stays hot with two more wins

Patterson High’s boys tennis team notched a 5-4 win against visiting Livingston High on March 20 and a 5-4 victory against host Central Valley High of Ceres on Monday, March 25.

Against Central Valley on Monday, Patterson (7-1 Western Athletic Conference) won five of its six singles matches.

At No. 1 singles, the Tigers gained a 6-0, 6-1 win, with Sterling Ramirez of Patterson defeating Alexis Zigala of Ceres.

Patterson’s John Minton bested Central Valley’s Alex Hernandez, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2 singles.

Francisco Legarde followed with a two-set win over Edgar Castillo, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 4 singles.

Dylan Halland of Patterson earned a No. 5 singles victory over Brandon Weis of Central Valley in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

No. 6 singles player Ricky Carballo won for the Tigers in three sets, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, against Oscar Ornales.

Patterson won three of its six singles matches and two of three doubles matches against Livingston.

Ramirez beat Jacob Mercado 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Minton took a 6-2, 7-5 victory over Edgar Mejia at No. 2, and Carballo downed Jose Valdivia 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6.

Patterson’s No. 2 doubles team, Damarrio Hammonds and Daniel Cota, defeated Jaime Merino and Homero Gervin 6-3, 6-2. Jorge Canales and Joey Howard, the No. 3 pair, added the Tigers’ final win of the match.
