Jason McCleery, a Patterson High School math teacher, is one of the Advancement Via Individual Determination coordinators at the school. In spite of budget constraints, McCleery still provides a successful A.V.I.D. program for students who want to attend college in the future. David Stubbs, PHS principal who nominated McCleery for the award, says McCleery is always well prepared and provides real opportunities for his students to succeed.
Wendi Ramirez, district office payroll clerk, along with her co-worker Kelly White, has held it together in the face of tough budgetary times, said DeCarlos Kaigier, director of fiscal services, who nominated Ramirez for the award. The PJUSD payroll department today operates with 33 percent less staff than it did a few years ago, in addition to running the district print shop full time. Ramirez has been sailing along smoothly even with all the adjustments and extra work that has been required of her, Kaigier added.
Alma Romo, Walnut Grove principal who nominated Hay for the award, said Hay is an exceptional attendance clerk and on top of effectively performing her duties, Hay has done an exemplary job of creating and maintaining Walnut Grove’s Facebook page and school website, according to Romo. She is always willing to help other school sites with technical issues relating to the Power School program and the social media sites. Hay is energetic in her work and continues to go above and beyond on a daily basis, Romo added.
Janet Lameli, who works in special education, knows only the word “yes” in her vocabulary, said Tracy Manzoni, district program specialist. Regardless of what she is asked of her, she is more than willing to take the extra responsibilities on – with devotion and enthusiasm. Lomeli always does what is best for the students and occasionally visits students’ homes or stays late at school to meet with students or families. She is always the go to person for the high school and exemplifies a positive attitude, and always has a big smile on her face, added Cathy Aumoeulogo, PHS vice principal, who also presented the award.
