A new contest allows parents, teachers and staff from the Patterson Joint Unified School District to give their favorite school employee a break by allowing schools administrators to take over part of the employee’s workday.

The district will host a drawing to benefit the March of Dimes on April 15, in which the winning ticket holders will be able to select staff members to be replaced for half of a daily shift by PJUSD Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services Steve Menge. For instance, if an employee has a five-hour shift, Alfano or Menge will work 2½ hours for that person.

The local goal is to raise $500 through the fun event with tickets priced at $1 each and six for $5. Two winning tickets will be drawn at beginning of the school board meeting at 7 p.m. on April 15, a Monday, at Patterson High School, 200 N. Seventh St.

March of Dimes is an organization that aims to improve the health of mothers and babies. Local school employees will participate in the walk on April 27, a Saturday, at Graceada Park in Modesto.
