I just read the article in the Irrigator about the major cuts in the school district (“School board approves 13 layoff notices,” Page 2, April 21). I was shocked to read that so many positions were being cut. I have been looking at job openings at numerous districts and came across one for Patterson, a computer director position that starts at $90,000 per year. If I do the math correctly, the amount they are offering would pretty much save all of the jobs that they are cutting.
They state they want and need employees in the classroom? I think something is wrong with the picture they are painting.
Patterson residents need to take a look at what is happening with the schools, as our children will be the ones affected.
