For the Patterson Irrigator
On March 24th the Tigers recieved their first team win of the season against Pacheco. No. 1 singles, Francisco Lagarde went 3 sets against Chris Ballesteros to lose in the final set, 6-2, 1-6, 1-6. The No. 2 and No. 3 singles also went 3 sets, both winning in the final trials against tough competitors. Dylan Halland won 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 with a tiebreaker 7-3 against Ismael Orozco. Daniel Cota beat Juan Baez 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. At No. 4 singles, Matt Valverde, bested Danny Espinoza 6-2, 6-0 and teammate Dammario Hammonds beat Brando Guzman in 2 sets, 6-0, 6-3. No. 6 singles, Chris Carlson lost to Antonio Hipolito, 4-6, 4-6. The No. 1 and No. 2 doubles both lost in 2 sets, while our No. 3 team of Carlos Ortega and Gerardo Ortiz won their first match of the season 6-1, 6-0 against Jose Lara and Michael Ayala.
The Tigers lost to Livingston, however, on March 27. The only wins were by Damarrio Hammonds, No. 4 singles, and Daniel Valverde at No. 6 singles.
On Wednesday, April 2, the Tigers lost a close one against Los Banos, 4-5. At No. 1 singles, Francisco Lagarde lost to JT Barcellos 0-6, 0-6. Dylan Halland in the No. 2 singles beat Josh Carlucci, 6-4, 6-1. Daniel Cota went 3 sets to beat Luke Sanchez, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2. Teammate Matt Valverde went 2 sets to beat Elias Navarro 7-6, 5-2, while Dammario Hammonds got the final singles win against Max Edinger, 6-3, 6-0.
No. 6 singles, Chris Carlson, lost to Steve Georgiou, 0-6, 3-6. All the doubles lost to conclude the match.
