Matthew Bohannon, 28, and Shawn Jackson, 28, both of Patterson, were arrested at their home on suspicion of burglary when deputies discovered items allegedly stolen from the house next door.
The victims of the burglary had left for a few days to go camping and found their house ransacked when they returned, said Sgt. John Walker of Patterson Police Services. Electronics equipment and jewelry were reported as missing.
Information from other neighborhood residents led police to search the house next door, where Bohannon and Jackson live, Walker said.
A third resident of the home led deputies through the house on what Walker called a consensual search. Deputies found most of the missing items in the garage, Walker said, but they did not find a laptop and some of the missing jewelry.
Bohannon and Jackson offered little information about the stolen items or whether anyone else was involved in the alleged burglary, Walker said.
Police are not looking for any other suspects, he said.
