The Patterson Joint Unified School District employees of the month were recognized during the March 3 school board meeting.

Patterson High School counselor Kathy Vetro-Martinez and Brittany Lozano, Northmead Elementary after school program aide, were honored with certificates and gift cards.

PHS teacher Christine Pugliese nominated Vetro-Martinez, who she defined as a very involved counselor. According to Pugliese, Vetro-Martinez does not only spend a considerable amount of time talking with the students about scholastic endeavors, but discusses personal life challenges, making her an important model for PHS students. Vetro-Martinez is described as a sensitive, compassionate and kind staff member, and an effective counselor who continues to hold students accountable for their behavior and academic responsibilities.

Brittany Lozano—nominated by Alysonn Cassidy, director of the district’s after school programs—was chosen for the award because of her ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently. Cassidy said “Miss Brittany” is quite flexible with her schedule, despite working several different jobs within the district at any given moment. Lozano handles various duties at Northmead and Walnut Grove with efficiency and a smile.
