Local groups that feed the hungry have 2,200 extra cans of fruit on hand, thanks to an effort coordinated by the city of Patterson's Health, Wellness and Hunger Coalition.

Volunteers from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Newman-based Stable Living, Hammon Senior Center and other community members labeled, sorted and delivered the fruit cups at the City of Patterson’s corporation yard on Monday, Dec. 3.

The cans of fruit, which originated from the Stockton-San Joaquin Emergency Food Bank, will be distributed as follows: 500 cans to Stable Living; 900 to Trust in Jesus Cuisine; 400 to the City of Patterson Senior Meal Task Force, and 400 to the Family Resource Center.
