The League of Women Voters of Stanislaus County strongly supports Measure T, the one-eighth-of-a-penny sales tax renewal that county voters approved in 1995, 1999 and 2004. If we don’t act, the libraries will lose 87 percent of their funding, and we can count on severe cuts and even closures in the county’s library system.
This is not a new tax. It cannot be taken by the state or used for purposes other than the libraries. It automatically expires in five years. Because Measure T requires a two-thirds vote of approval, it is imperative that supporters remember to vote.
Vote yes on Measure T in the June 5 election.
Susan Novak, president of the League of Women Voters of Stanislaus County
