Residents in west Patterson's Heartland Ranch development are upset after someone slashed 29 tires on vehicles at 16 different homes earlier this week.

The vehicles were damaged on Osprey and Peregrine drives and Heartland Ranch Avenue the morning of Wednesday, June 5.

“This is normally a quiet street,” said one resident, who asked not to be identified for fear of retribution. “This was a shock.”

The resident, who lived on the 400 block of Peregrine, came out to run an errand early Wednesday to find the two driver’s side tires of her husband’s Chevrolet pickup flattened.

Another unidentified resident from the 600 block of Peregrine said he had the back two tires of his pickup ruined.

A third resident, who had security cameras on his home, was busy poring through nighttime footage to see if he could find who slashed the oversize tires on his pickup truck.

Patterson Police Sgt. Paul Yotsuya said the case would be considered a felony because of the amount of damage and that a detective was being assigned to the case.

“Whenever the damage is this extensive and large, you start getting a public outcry,” he said. “After two or three (incidents, the case) had my attention.”

Police had leads and were looking for two to three individuals but had no descriptions, Yotsuya said.

Anyone who has information about the tire slashing case can call Patterson Police Services at 892-5071.

Callers can also leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 521-4636. Tipsters can also email tips at www.modestopolice.com/CrimeStoppers, or text them to 274637 by typing “Tip704” plus the message and be eligible for a cash reward.

Patterson City Council may I suggest a curfew for teenagers in this town? May I also suggest you folks create more than just a skate board park for the youth to keep themselves occupied. Not all the kids skate in this town. There's literally nothing for the kids to do in this town. What do you think there going to do if they have no way to keep themselves busy. Meanwhile they are breaking into our homes, stealing our cars, breaking into our cars, vandalizing our cars and homes. You have people have not reached out to the residents to figure out a solution. But come next election that can be fixed! In one month 4 of my neighbors vehicles were broken into this year. The kids stole a wallet, keys, money, stereo equipment and meanwhile where is the Sheriff's department when all of this is happening? I read an article about Annette Smith and crew catching taggers last week. Is that their job or should it be the Sheriff's department? What are we paying the Sheriff department for if they aren't earning their keep? Patterson's tax paying home owners want to feel safe living here. If we aren't safe then we'll just have to vote you all out of office and vote in some folks who care about the home owners safety. You people better get on the ball or come next elections your out!
