Patterson High School seniors Lyndize Garro and Edward Heinrich were named valedictorians as the school year ended May 28, making a total of 10 top students at the high school.
Maria Ayala, Gerardo Cortez, Alexandra Halland, Sharon Lizotte, Alma Lomeli, Lesley Scheuber, Mandeep Singh and Chelsea Taylor are the other eight who had perfect grades through high school who were previously announced in the Patterson Irrigator.
Lyndzie Garro, 17, is the daughter of Kim and Greg Garro. Lyndzie was the Associated Student Body commissioner of spirit at the high school, was the journalism copy chief and in the Book Club at Patterson High.
Lyndzie coached cheerleading, was a football and basketball cheerleader and was also on the swim team. She is employed at the Patterson Aquatic Center.
Among her honors and awards, Lyndzie was awarded $1,850 in PRIDE scholarships and is a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation
Lyndzie plans to attend University of California, Santa Barbara, and major in biopsychology and English literature. She wants to be a psychiatrist with a background in biology.
Edward Anthony Heinrich, 17, son of Margaret Heinrich, was awarded the
Golden State Seal Merit for standardized test scores. He also received the Bank of America award for math.
Edward received two PRIDE scholarships totaling $1,200, as well as a scholarship through the University of California, Davis, for about $10,000. Edward will go to UC Davis in the fall, where he will major in computer engineering and minor in Spanish.
Edward ran cross country and track during his sophomore and junior years at Patterson High. In his senior year, Edward was employed as an after school program aide at Apricot Valley Elementary. He was also an elementary and high school private tutor. Edward loves to draw and loves music, running and playing sports.
