The Walnut Grove Elementary varsity boys soccer team posted a trio of victories over Delhi rivals Schendel Elementary, El Capitan Elementary and Harmony Elementary last week.

The Wildcats (9-0) ended the season unbeaten with a 10-4 triumph at Schendel on Oct. 18, a 6-2 win over host El Capitan on Oct. 19 and a 4-3 edge over Harmony in Patterson on Oct. 20 to finish the week.

"This was a fun season for all of us — the players learned a lot," Walnut Grove coach Alex Saballos said. "The boys played with passion all year, and it showed."

Against Schendel, the Wildcats got four goals from Mauricio Gallardo.

The next day, Walnut Grove benefited from two goals by Hugo Gonzalez and the strong play of goalkeeper Carlos Guerrero.

"I am proud of all of the players," Saballos said. "I feel lucky that I had the opportunity to be the coach of this team."
