Kianna Garza and Xylina Faller each went 2-for-4 with a double to lead the Tigers (2-9 WAC). Teammate Sadie Schut also added a double for Patterson.
“Our defense was tight, and we were more disciplined at the plate,” said Patterson coach Jennifer Hamm. “The girls were very excited about the game. They seem to have finally started gelling together, and that is a big plus.”
Patterson’s Bailey Boschi allowed four hits and struck out three in her second career victory inside the pitcher’s circle.
“As long as these girls are getting the game mentally — because they have it physically — that is what matters to me,” Hamm said. “I don’t like to emphasize a lot about wins, but I do want them to understand that if they do all the necessary things they need to do, then the wins will come.”
