- WHAT: Planning Commission meeting/General plan review
- WHEN: 6 p.m. Thursday
- WHERE: Council chambers, City Hall, 1 Plaza Circle
Patterson’s general plan continues its march forward Thursday when the planning commission picks up its review.
This week, the commission is scheduled to look at policies that would set city guidelines for transportation, housing, land use, open space, noise, safety and any other issue city officials want the plan to comment on.
After the commission’s review, consultants will take the recommendations and draft an environmental impact report that will spell out the effects of the revised general plan and ways to mitigate those effects.
Patterson officials started revising the general plan more than a year ago. Most recently, the commission decided what land-use plan they would like most thoroughly reviewed when the EIR is drafted. That plan has the city expanding in all directions and growing from about 21,000 people to 70,000 people by 2028 and 82,664 people by 2048.
Once the commission makes its decision, the way will be clear for work on the EIR to begin. The public and city officials will have several opportunities to comment on the draft report.
Ultimately, the plan requires approval from the Patterson City Council.
