To the city of Patterson: During these hot summer days, our children are in search of water sources where they can play. The Blue Fiesta waterpark is very attractive for water play until you get to the slippery concrete surrounding the rubber mat. This concrete, when wet, is very dangerous. All parents who have taken their children here know exactly what I am talking about.
We need to get the city to do something. While I was there, my child slipped, and so did two other children.
I immediately called the city to see what they could do about this problem, and they told me “there are ‘slippery when wet’ signs out there.” OK, this is fine if you are 9 and over, but children like my 2-year-old have no clue to “walk” on the concrete. They also told me that they thought about roughing up the concrete but said it would hurt people’s feet.
I don’t know about any other parents, but I would prefer that my child’s feet hurt — or they can always wear flip-flops — rather than risking a concussion or worse that is absolutely irreversible. If the city of Patterson doesn’t fix this problem, I say we parents need to petition. Who’s in?
City of Patterson, please recognize this dangerous issue and fix it, because it is a great water park.
Marin Hooper, Patterson

Although I don't expect the city to make any drastic changes it would be nice if the signs that are there are bigger and more numerous.
My wife and I have discovered that wearing water shoes prevents any slipping whatsoever.
As for your inflammatory comments "cdebler," it's obvious that you haven't been to this waterpark and/or you are just mean. Ms. Hooper's comments are valid and I, for one, appreciate her for bringing up the subject.
One shouldn't be attacked for having a differing opinion.
