A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept 18 for Arturo Estrella Lomeli of Patterson, who died Wednesday, Sept. 12, at his home.

Mr. Lomeli, 58, was a native of Jalisco, Mexico, and was a resident of Patterson for 54 years. He worked in management for 30 years in the food processing industry. Mr. Lomeli was very involved with church groups at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson, as well as St Joseph’s Catholic Church and St Stanislaus Catholic Church, both in Modesto.

Mr. Lomeli was also involved with the Mi Casa Foundation and participated in the mission of Santa Maria del Mexicano de Colon Queretaro. He enjoyed gardening, guitar playing and spending time with his family. He was a proud husband, father and grandfather, known as “Papa Turo” to his grandchildren. Arturo and his wife, Dora were school sweethearts and just celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary.

Mr. Lomeli is survived by his wife, Dora Lomeli of Patterson; sons, Arturo Lomeli, II and his wife, Lynsey, of Beaverton, Oregon and Andres Lomeli of North Carolina; daughter, Cristina Albarran and husband, Saul, of Modesto; brother, Jorge Lomeli of Modesto; sisters, Lilia Lomeli-Gill of Grayson and Alicia Lomeli-Perez of Newman and seven grandchildren, Greyson Lomeli, Avery Lomeli, Bianca Albarran, Briana Albarran, Brenda Albarran, Bethany Albarran and Belicia Albarran.

A visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17, followed by a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson.
