Tiger graduates will go head to head in the second Patterson High School Alumni Soccer Game on Friday, Sept. 21.

The game raises money to provide the school’s varsity boys soccer team with equipment for the season, including uniforms, soccer balls and cones for drills.

“It should be fun,” said Oscar Roman, the event coordinator and a 1997 Patterson High graduate. “It’s a family event, and it’s (money) going right back into the community.”

Friday’s fundraiser kicks off at 5:30 p.m. at Patterson Community Stadium with a soccer match between the school’s boys varsity and junior varsity teams, followed by the alumni soccer game at 7 p.m.

“We’re all competitive and we’d like to win, but at the end of the night, it’s all for a good cause,” Roman said. “Win or lose, we’re going to have fun with it.”

Roman said he hoped to showcase about 60 Tigers alumni, including Martin Molina and Mateo Aldana, who played at Patterson from 2001 to 2004 and were members of the school’s first Sac-Joaquin Section champion team.

Other former Tigers confirmed to be attending the event include 2010 graduates Rodrigo Aldana, Gustavo Molina and Cesar Molina, who won the Division V section title in 2009.

Tickets are $3 each for adults and $2 for students and will be sold at the stadium gates. Children age 12 and younger can enter free with a paying adult.
