Patterson’s Nathan Stanton led the local boys in the 3-mile varsity race with a sixth-place time of 17 minutes, 25 seconds.
Antonio Venegas, whose 20:13 time placed him 111th, was followed by teammates Julius Flores (22:48, 181st), Jose Jaramillo (23:11, 195th), Joey Howard (24:18, 205th) and Daniel Arcinega (35:00, 226th).
On the girls side, Lupe Ventura placed sixth in the 2-mile junior varsity race with a time of 15:11. Stephanie Esqueda finished in 39th place in 17:39, and Jenevy Esqueda placed 51st with a time of 18:14.
Devin Burnette set the pace for Patterson in the 2-mile JV boys race with a 61st-place finish and a time of 14:12, followed by Dylan Halland (14:14, 63rd), Dylan Christiansen (14:17, 66th), Sean Hicks (14:54, 91st) and Tony Halcon (15:30, 105th).
Patterson sweeps home meet
Patterson’s boys and girls cross country teams posted matching victories over visiting Central Valley High of Ceres on Sept. 19 at the T.W. Patterson Sports Complex.
The Patterson varsity boys defeated the Hawks 25-30.
Stanton paced the Tigers in the 3.1-mile race, claiming a first-place finish with a time of 17:29. Teammates Ben Vega (19:30, third) and Venegas (19:35, fourth) rounded out Patterson’s fastest three finishers.
Flores (20:20, seventh) and Halland (21:01, 10th) were the Tigers’ other top finishers.
The Patterson varsity girls earned the top three spots in the 3.1-mile race as they bested Central Valley 21-34.
Ventura (22:57) came away with a first-place finish. Jenevy Esqueda (25:50) placed second, and Gracie Bradley (25:57) was third. Stephanie Esqueda (26:42, fifth) and Carina Sotelo (29:55, 10th) were close behind.
The Patterson junior varsity boys netted five of the top six spots in the 2-mile race. Burnette (13:00, second), Hicks (13:43, third) and Ivan Barbontin (14:19, fourth) helped the Tigers to a 20-35 win.
