EDITOR,

Sheree Lustgarten and I were competitors in the 2010 election for Patterson City Council. During the course of that campaign, which unfortunately has come to be remembered more for its personal attacks than for any progress it might have created for our city, I came to respect Sheree very much as a public servant.

In the two years since that election, I have had the great fortune to know Sheree as a friend, and I have seen the tireless work she has put in on behalf of Patterson and its citizens. Sheree is undoubtedly a fighter, but unlike many who would seek to hold public office, the cause she fights for cannot be questioned. She is an advocate for this town and its people and will back down from no one when it comes time to protect Patterson from those who would seek to personally gain from it.

Sheree Lustgarten is everything Patterson needs on its City Council. She is smart, tough, honest and unwavering in her commitment, and she will be receiving my vote on Nov. 6.

James Leonard, Patterson
