Detectives arrested 48-year-old Quoc Han Ho and 56-year-old Quang Van Do, both of San Jose, on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sales and theft of utility services. Both men were found in a home on the 100 block of Walker Ranch Parkway, where police seized 826 marijuana plants and six pounds of dried weed, totaling 206 pounds, according to a release from Sgt. Anthony Bejaran of the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department.
Neither of the suspects were in custody in Stanislaus County Jail as of Wednesday, Oct. 3.
Police served a warrant at 10:30 a.m. after developing information that an indoor marijuana grow would be found in the residence, according to Bejaran.
Upon serving the warrant, detectives found a large marijuana grow and detained both Ho and Do, who were also found in the home, according to Bejaran. Marijuana was found in several rooms inside the home, including bathrooms and closets, he stated.
Detectives also learned the residents were stealing power for their marijuana grow to avoid having to pay for the services, according to the sheriff's news release.
A Walker Ranch Parkway neighbor, who did not wish to give her name, said Tuesday that authorities arrived with weapons drawn and a shield up before banging loudly on the door of the home where the suspects were found, demanding residents to open up.
Residents at the home, who moved there within the past three months, were fairly quiet, she said. Though women and children were initially among the home's residents, she said she had not seen them there in recent days.
"They would come and go a lot," she said.
Bejaran could not be reached for comment Wednesday, so it was not clear whether police think the case was related to the seizure of 750 pounds of marijuana, totaling $750,000, in five separate west Patterson homes on Aug. 23.
However, he said Tuesday, Oct. 2, it was not related to the arrest of Patterson residents Chad McGarry and Ronald Hunter on marijuana cultivation-related charges, and McGarry and his wife, Kristina McGarry, on marijuana sales charges following alleged seizures of pot at their homes on Sept. 25.
