Patterson (2-6 WAC) won the home match Monday with set scores of 26-24, 25-21, 25-19.
The Tigers went 2-0 this year against the Hawks, including a 3-2 win Sept. 19.
The Patterson players expected to win Monday and have higher expectations for the rest of the season, according to Mele Tupouata.
“We wanted to play more determined and more confident,” she said. “Our communication on the court is getting better, and we think that we have enough pieces to keep improving.”
Patterson coach Tarah High said the team is building its confidence for the season’s home stretch.
“More time out there on the court is making us a better team,” she said. “We’re pushing everything up and transitioning better to the net. These are things that we’ve continued to work on throughout the season.”
Tupouata had 10 kills for the match, in addition to 12 blocks. Kiara Job and Mariele Schut each tallied seven kills; Karina Villafana contributed 18 digs; and Bailey Boschi added 16 assists for Patterson.
“Now that we’re getting our passing down, we can get more offensive and aggressive,” High said.
The JV Tigers beat Central Valley on Monday to remain in first place with a 6-2 record in WAC play.
Patterson defeated the Hawks 2-0 with set scores of 25-8, 25-12 as Kianna Garza and Cassie Santelices led the offensive effort with three aces each.
Arelly Magallon had two kills; Gabby Maldonado notched two blocks; and Santelices added three assists for Patterson.
Patterson started off with a victory in the first set Monday, but Central Valley responded with two wins in a row to take the match with set scores of 15-25, 25-15, 15-8.
