A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, Oct. 26 for Richard John Hove, Jr. of Patterson, who passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on October 17, 2012.

Mr. Hove was born in Modesto on Aug. 26, 1938 to Richard and Helen Hove. He lived his entire life in Patterson and attended local schools. Mr. Hove was very involved in farming and he raised apricots, walnuts, tomatoes, alfalfa, beans and various row crops. Mr. Hove loved going to Pismo Beach every year, rooting for the Oakland Raiders and spending time with his family. Mr. Hove was past president of the Patterson Lions Club, board member of the Western Growers, and a member of the San Joaquin Hay Growers, Diamond Walnut Growers, Modesto Elks, Westley-El Solyo Fire Department and Old Fisherman’s Club. He was also a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for 74 years.

Mr. Hove is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Emilie Hove of Patterson; his children, Tara Luna and her husband Tommy of Moorpark, Todd Hove and is wife Jennifer of Arroyo Grande; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Thomas of Moorpark; two step grandchildren, Ryan and Quentin of Arroyo Grande; sister, Thelma Kneass of Modesto; brothers, Harold Hove and his wife, Florence, of Patterson, Ken Hove and his wife, Rene of Weed and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Helen Hove.

A visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25 at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson. A second visitation will be observed from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct 26 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 3 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 650 W. Las Palmas Ave., Patterson. Burial will follow at Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson.
