The 10-member team had lost 3.8 percent of its total body weight — 75.5 pounds — since the initial weigh-in Aug. 23.
Seven 10-member teams from around the West Side competed to see which could lose the most weight.
The contest was part of the West Side Healthcare Advisory Taskforce’s healthy lifestyle education campaign.
The 4-year-old task force includes representatives of health care boards and medical offices whose mission is to improve health care offerings on the West Side and teach people about healthier ways to live.
The goal of the campaign is to encourage people to make better, more healthful choices about food and add exercise to their daily life.
Finishing second was a team based at Patterson Health and Fitness, with a 3.1 percent loss. A team from the city of Newman placed third with a 2.1 percent loss; the group from Step It Up health club lost 2.1 percent, placing fourth; and the Newman School District recorded a 1.67 percent loss for fifth place. Patterson Promotions finished sixth with a 0.41 percent loss, and the city of Gustine finished last with a 0.6 percent weight gain.
