Ramona Evans, who has served as a Del Puerto Health Care District trustee for almost two years, has formally resigned her position, board president Anne Stokman announced at the board’s meeting Tuesday, Oct. 30.

Stokman read Evans’ letter of resignation to those at Tuesday’s meeting.

“Nothing is wrong — everything is right,” stated Evans, a registered nurse, in the Sept. 27 letter. “I have enjoyed working with an awesome bunch of people! More like an extended family to me. I have entered into a season that I need to move on and enjoy what life has for me. I am pleased with the direction the district is going under the leadership of our CEO Richard Nakamura.”

Two seats on the Del Puerto Health Care District board will be contested in the Tuesday, Nov. 6, election. Incumbents Anne Stokman and Jeannette Kessler have filed for re-election to their four-year terms. They are challenged by Ed Maring, who served more than three decades on the board before losing his seat in the 2010 election.

Fred Beltran has filed to continue in the two-year seat and has no challenger. Harold Hill’s term expires in 2014.

The health care board plans to take applications from community members who are interested in completing the remaining two years of Evans’ four-year term. Applicants will be interviewed, and one will be appointed.

Stokman said after the meeting that Evans had been a valuable member of the board.

“We appreciate all of Ramona’s contributions and we wish her well,” Stokman said. “She will surely be missed.”
