Too much fuss over street parking

I have lived in Patterson off and on for more than 10 years and live there now. I have four vehicles — one parked in the garage, two in my driveway and one in the street in front of my house.

In the past two months, I have received two 72-hour notices to move the vehicle that is on the street. I have been parking my truck on the street for more than two years now without an issue. My truck is registered and has insurance on it.

Is the city really hurting that bad for money? Where would “they” like me to park my truck? In front of someone else’s house? On my front lawn?

Come on, people. I can see if it was not registered, but I have paid my debt to the state to park on the street.

I don't mind people parking on the street in front of their own homes, but I can't stand it when they take up two spaces in front of mine.

I hate that to, thats why I bought the truck to park in front of MY house!!!

I would like to agree with Todd George having recently received a notification of nuisance from the city regarding my vehicle. I want to clarify that I have a big family and four of the seven in the family drive. My vehicle is parked up in my driveway- not on the street. But it is a 1997 GMC Savannah can that might not be meeting "beautification of Patterson" guidelines. Recently the leaves falling off our tree and the many city trees piled up underneath here not to mention a few webs during the very windy days. But I guess I should come home from work every day and clean this up as to not have issues since mother nature makes a mess . I think there are better things they can do with their time - such as replace the dead city tree in my front yard that I requested be replaced in early spring or the ones down the street in our neighborhood.

It will be interesting to see how we fare out in the end

Just to clarify: It is not the City who patrols and decides who gets these notices. They are alerted by the public to hand them out for "anything" that hasn't moved in 72 hours. So, before you go complaining to the City and Police, check with your neighbors...since they are the ones that called on you.

The street is not a parking lot for people who choose to have mutliple cars! It is about time that the code enforcement and police services step up and do their jobs!
