Santa’s visit will be the main attraction during a “Storybook Christmas” celebration hosted from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 1 by the Patterson-Westley Chamber of Commerce and the city of Patterson, Soroptimist International of Patterson and Helping Our West Side.
A tree-lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. in the South Park> Children’s entertainment begins at 5:15 p.m. Santa will make his entrance during the electric light parade, which winds through downtown at 6 p.m.
The Center Building, which houses Patterson’s historical museum, will be open that evening, as will several downtown businesses. Toys and food will be collected for people in need throughout the area.
Christmas trees decorated by members of local groups and businesses will be on display in the city’s South Park off Plaza Circle. Local Soroptimists will sign up participants until Nov. 19, a Monday. A charge of $25 covers the cost of a tree and delivery. For information: Juanzette Hunter, 892-6651.
