Youth talent show

WHERE: Clara Johnson Auditorium Patterson High, 200 N. Seventh St.

DETAILS: The Teen Center Youth Action Commission and the Patterson High School Drama Club are hosting “Patterson’s Got Talent” for young people in the city. Tickets can be bought in advance from Center for Human Services-Patterson Teen Center, 1040 W. Las Palmas Ave.; from Tori Scoles at Patterson High School; or from any YAC member.

COST: $2 per person in advance, $3 at the door

Friday, Nov. 30

Eighth-grade day at Catholic High School

WHEN: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

WHERE: Central Catholic High School, 200 S. Carpenter Road, in Modesto.

DETAILS: Eighth-grade students are invited to a day of activities at Central Catholic High School in Modesto. The teenagers can visit classrooms, participate in a rally, share a pizza lunch, take part in a noontime dance and talk with high school students, teachers, coaches and counselors. Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP.

African handicrafts for sale

WHEN: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Federated Methodist-Presbyterian Church, 45 S. El Circulo

DETAILS: The Federated Church of Patterson will offer handcrafted items for sale this weekend, including musical instruments, jewelry, woodcarvings, stone carvings and scarves. The goods provide employment for artisans in African countries and also fund ecumenical ministries of African Team Ministries, including AIDS education and care for AIDS orphans. The sale will continue Sunday, Dec. 2, after the 10 a.m. worship service.

Scrapbooking group

WHEN: Noon

WHERE: Patterson Branch Library, 46 N. Salado Ave.

DETAILS: Patterson residents are invited to attend a meeting of Scrappin’ in Patterson, a scrapbooking group, at the library. Crafters can take their own materials and work on ongoing projects, and newcomers can learn how to get started.
