The U. S. Small Business Administration is accepting nominations for several awards, including the 2013 Small Business of the Year Award.

Each year during National Small Business Week, the agency recognizes outstanding small-business owners for their contribution to the American economy and society. The 2013 dates will be announced by President Barack Obama at a later time.

Trade associations, chambers of commerce and business organizations frequently sponsor candidates for the award. Business owners may nominate themselves or other candidates.

The Fresno SBA Office, which serves 15 counties of Central California, must receive nominations by Jan. 3.

Criteria for all award categories can be found within the “What’s New” section at www.sba.gov/ca/Fresno.

For information: Melende Ward, Fresno SBA Office, 559-487-5791, ext. 2709.
