Patterson coach Nick Marchy addressed the athletes’ friends and families and others who connected with Tigers football during the annual awards night in the school cafeteria.
The Tigers (7-4 overall) placed five players on the all-Western Athletic Conference first team: senior offensive lineman Robert McDonnell, senior defensive lineman Isaiah Tuefele, senior linebacker Drake Vatuvei, junior tight end Jordan Levu and junior defensive back Brandon Williams.
Named to the all-WAC second team were senior quarterback Joey Lopes, senior linebacker Miles Jacks, junior wide receiver Avion Warmsley and sophomore linebacker Rueben Rosas.
Team awards were given to Lopes (outstanding offensive player), Tuefele (outstanding defensive player), Williams (all-purpose player), senior Dominic Dawkins (impact player of the year), senior Curtis Ruiz (most improved player) and senior Tony Pimentel (Tiger Pride honor).
Lopes, Vatuvei, McDonnell, Jacks and Rosas were recognized as team captains.
Vatuvei also collected the Gridiron Award, which is presented each year to a senior athlete who started on both offense and defense.
The Patterson JV football team commemorated its 7-3 campaign with awards for leading athletes.
The title of outstanding offensive player went to sophomore Damarrio Hammonds. Sophomore Hunter Powers was named the outstanding defensive player. Sophomore Antonio Vasquez garnered Tiger Pride honors.
Eloa Chadwick and Jorge Rodriguez, both sophomores, were recognized as team captains.
The freshman Tigers finished 8-2 overall in 2012.
Antoine Bostic was named the team’s offensive player of the year. Teammate Caden Johnson earned defensive player of the year honors.
Alec Espos and Tarrant Tupuola were honored as team captains.
Junior Alexandra Rubio was named the Patterson High varsity squad’s most improved cheerleader at Monday’s banquet.
Kristen Barnes, a senior, collected the Tiger Pride award, and junior Cassandra Avila received the coach’s award.
Seniors Raven Samano and Ashton Young were captains.
Sophomore Kelly Gonzales received the Most Improved Cheerleader award, and sophomore Katie Keller earned Tiger Pride honors.
Sophomores Tiana Baron and Sierrah Leal were captains.
