A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Dec. 19, for Rogelio M. Tovar, 64 of Westley, who died Thursday, Dec. 13, at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House in Hughson.

Mr. Tovar was a native of Valle Hermoso, Mexico, and was a resident of Westley for 30 years. He worked for the Stanislaus County Housing Authority as a maintenance worker for 20 years. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Patterson.

Mr. Tovar is survived by his sons, Amado Tovar of Westley, Rogelio Tovar, Jr. of Patterson; daughter, Maria Magdalena Tovar of Modesto; brothers, Jose Salinas of Mexico, Ricardo Tovar and Reynaldo Tovar, both of Vernalis; sisters, Ofelia Salinas and Leticia Salinas both of Mexico, Oralia Alaniz of Progresso, Texas; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalena Garcia Tovar, who passed away in 2010.

A visitation will be observed from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.18, followed by a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel , 450 W. Las Palmas Ave., in Patterson. A second visitation will be observed from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the chapel and will be followed by Mass at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 529 I St., in Patterson. Burial will follow at Patterson District Cemetery, 10800 Highway 33, Patterson.
