The win came on the heels of a 79-23 triumph against Beyer High of Modesto on Saturday, Dec. 22, as the Tigers took home third place from the Thompson Chevrolet Holiday Classic at Patterson High School.
In that contest, Jordan Levu led the Tigers with 22 points, 13 rebounds and five assists. Teammate Skylar Job scored 21 with five rebounds, and Cariaun Williams had 13 points and pulled down two boards.
After a slow start against Waterford, the Tigers (10-4) went on a 9-0 run to end the first quarter and take a 13-6 lead.
Keegan Sanchez (20 points) and Justin Rodriguez (10 points) combined to net 18 second-quarter points, sparking a 26-10 run to close the half, that increased the Patterson lead to 39-16.
Sanchez opened the third quarter with a 3-pointer -- one of eight Patterson treys in the contest -- and the Tiger offense kept rolling in the second half, keeping Waterford at a distance.
Jordan Dinu had 10 points and six rebounds, Levu had nine points and five rebounds and Michael Smith (six assists) and Kevin Phelps each had eight points for the Tigers.
Patterson will continue tournament play at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28.
