Mr. Sai, 88, was born in Bristol, R.I., to Laura and Joe Sai on July 8, 1924. He joined the Navy towards the end of World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. Mr. Sai then served in the Korean War and received a Purple Heart when his ship was attacked and he was injured. His stint in the Navy brought him to Atwater, where his parents had moved. He met Millie Borrelli at a dance in Gustine and they married Nov.17, 1946.

Mr. Sai was such a craftsman as he enjoyed working with wood, building cabinets, shelves and other projects. He also loved camping, hunting and fishing with family and friends. Family and friends were such an important part of Ray and Millie’s life together. They valued spending time and vacationing with their daughters and grandchildren. Their travels brought them to Australia, Canada and all of California. Mr. Sai often said how they never would have traveled so much if it hadn’t been for his daughters.

Later that year Mr. Sai moved to Richmond, Ky. to be with his eldest daughter. Mr. Sai was a devout Catholic. His faith was a major part of his life and contributed to the man he was and how he lived his life.
